Registration takes an average of 5 months. The consulate will notify you in a timely manner once the pertinent authorities in Lebanon send proof of completion of registration or otherwise any further requests.
All vital status events (marriage, birth or death) that take place outside Lebanon should be registered at the Lebanese mission (embassy/consulate/honorary consulate) in the country of incidence. If there is no Lebanese mission in the country of incidence, then the registrations should be done at the nearby Lebanese mission that covers such a country.
Registrations of vital status events via email should include scanned copies (cell phone photos are not acceptable) of the application forms and all supporting documents.
English certificates don’t require any translation to Arabic, except for divorce decrees.
Foreign wives of Lebanese nationals can apply for the Lebanese citizenship one year after the registration of their marriages in the relevant records of the Office of Vital Status Records within the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities of Lebanon.
At the Consular Section
Complete a citizenship application (select the link to get the form) and enclose the following:
- Two copies of the marriage certificate.
- Two copies of a recent family ikhraj kayd for the Lebanese husband.
- Copy of the husband’s Lebanese passport.
- Two copies of the wife’s birth certificate.
- Two copies of the wife’s passport reflecting the husband’s family name.
- Fees: $50.00 (only cash or money orders payable to the Consulate General of Lebanon are accepted).

- Two copies of the marriage certificate.
- Two copies of a recent family ikhraj kayd for the Lebanese husband.
- Copy of the husband’s Lebanese passport.
- Two copies of the wife’s birth certificate.
- Two copies of the wife’s passport reflecting the husband’s family name.
